June 30, 2005
To all of my friends, the GREAT volunteers of the Southern Sierra Council,Staff, and members of the Executive Board:
It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that as of August 1, 2005 I have accepted a position on the National Staff of the Boy Scouts of America and will be leaving the employ of the Southern Sierra Council. I will be the new Area Director in Area I, and will be serving (12) Boy Scout Councils in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Japan. I will be moving to the northwest following my assignment at the National Jamboree.
My last physical day in the Council Office will be Friday July 15th.
There are too many people to thank, there are too many miles that we have walked together on the Scouting Trail to adequately thank each of you reading this for all of your support and belief in what we have acheived these past four years.
There are no words to say how much all of you mean to me, and what we have accomplished in a short period of time. The future of Scouting in our Council is bright because of your belief in the Scout Oath and Law that governs all of us, and most importantly your example daily to live it.
The Council Executive Board is forming a Search Committee to select the new Scout Executive and plans are to have the new Scout Executive in place by September 15th. You can be confident that the committee, made up of Executive Board Members, will do a great job!
Scouting is great in the Southern Sierra Council, and it is because of YOU!
Thank you for making a difference in thousands of lives of Scouts, and thank you for making a difference in MY life. I will never forget you.
Until we meet again on the Trailhead....
