JOHN2 WEBB, Jr. (JOHN1) was born Mar 14, 1720/211,2 (O.S.) in Gwynedd MM records, Philadelphia Co., (Berks), PA. He married RACHEL WILLETS 1747. Rachel is the daughter of THOMAS WILLETS and RACHEL POWELL. Rachel probabley died between 1769 and 1774.
Exeter MM, 25th day, 12th month, 1747/8, p. 763: “This meeting appoints Thomas Elliot & Jmes Boone to speak with John Webb jur concerning his going out in marriage before a magistrate & make report thereof to next Monthly Meeting.”
Exeter MM Minutes, 25th day 8th mo 1763 pg 483: Complaint against John Webb had offered to enlist himself as a soldier.
On Sep 7, 1753 John Webb, Jr. of Amity purchased 100 acres of land in Amity from the estate of his uncle Samuel Boone (Berks Co., PA, DB B2, p. 216-217). John and Rachel sold this 100 acres of land in Amity Township on May 10, 1766 to Samuel Lee (Berks Co., PA, DB B2, p. 218). The following year on May 13, 1767 they purchase 126 acres of land in on “Bohandy Creek adjacent to land of John Webb Junior and John Webb” in Brunswick Township from Isaiah Willits (Berks Co., PA, DB A6, p. 139-141). Apparently this property adjoined other land owned by John and Rachel and and his father. On Jun 11, 1774 John Webb [Rachel is not mentioned] then sold this 126 acre “Plantation, water corn Mill and Saw Mill and Tract of Land Situate in Bohandy Creek” to Ludwich Hesing (Berks Co., PA, DB B1, p. 543-544). It may be at this time that John Webb, Jr. moved to Northumberland County as this is consistant with Clayton Webb's REMINISCENSES OF FORMER DAYS4 in which he states:
“My grandfather, John Webb, and one brother, Samuel Webb, moved into the woods on the Susquehanna River near the mouth of Fishing Creek in about the year 1770 taking a tract of excellent bottom land on which the town of Bloomsberry now stands.“

GEORGE3 WEBB (JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Feb 12, 1750/511 in Exeter, Berks Co., PA, and died 1828 in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. He married HANNAH CLAYTON1,6 Bef. 1790 in prob. Northumberland Co., PA, daughter of THOMAS CLAYTON and MARY EVERINGHAM. She was born Abt. 1761 in New Jersey, and died in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.
REMINISCENSES OF FORMER DAYS by Clayton Webb4:
"George went to Philadelphia at the commencement of the War to join the British to escape trouble. From there he sailed to New York where a British Officer told him that he was enlisted, and kept him in their service for seven years until the close of the war. He then went to Nova Scotia for a few years, then came back to his people again, married Hanna Clayton, and settled in Pine Grove where he remained until 1805 when he removed again to Uxbridge, Ontario where he and his wife died in old age. Their children were seven in number, lived to marry and have families. One son, Isaiah Webb, still lives in Indiana at the age of 86 years, and is quite smart."
The recollections of Clayton Webb are confirmed by the Biography of his grandson Isacc P. Webb of Marshall County, Indiana. Although I have only been able to identify one of the seven children.

JOB3 WEBB, (JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 15 Oct 17571. He married HANNAH ALSOP 15 Jun 1785 in Westbury MM, Long Island, NY; widow of THOMAS CARPENTER, daughter of RICHARD ALSOP and SARAH PEARSALL. She was born 18 Dec 1757 in prob. Long Island, NY. Hannah married first THOMAS CARPENTER, son of THOMAS and ANN STROCKER, on 4 Dec 1777 Westbury MM, Long Island, NY b. 1757 d. 1779.
Notes for JOB WEBB:
In the 1790 census Job is living in North Hempstead, Queens, Long Island beside Richard Alsop the parents of his wife Hannah (p. 153). The following is a certificate of transfer from the Westbury MM to the New York MM, in 1791: New York MM, NY: Job & Hannah; Ch: Thomas, Sarah, John, Isaac; cf Wby with their 4 ch 5-18-1791; ct Wby with their 3 ch 11-3-1791 [Note that there is no mention of Alsop Carpenter Hannah's son by her first marriage.] (Hinshaw, p. 3447)
From Westbury Job moved in 1796 to Hudson, Columbia Co., New York where he appears in the Hudson Quaker records and appears in the 1800 census (p. 1132). Also living in Claverack, Columbia County is Alsop Carpenter Hannah's son by her first marriage. Chatham & Hudson Monthly Meeting, Columbia County, New York Quaker Records8:
“Jared Macy s Reuben & Ruth , Hudson; 1st w Sarah Webb dt Job & Hannah Hudson m 11-29-1804 , Hudson; 2nd w - m out before 1-21-1812 & dis “
“Job Webb, Hannah Ch: Thomas, Sarah not in cert to Coeymans, John, Isaac, Richard, James not in cert to Coeymans Cert fr Westbury 6-15-1796 with 6 ch Cert to Coeymans 5-20-1806 with 4 ch”
In the History of Madison County, State of New York9 we find the following reference: "We have the names of several who came previous to 1805: Abram Sutton, from Westchester County, N.Y., John Pierce and wife, from New York; Dr. Ephraim Otis, from Saratoga, N.Y.; Job Webb, from Hudson, N.Y., and Benjamin Stratton." In 1810 and 1820 we find Job enumerated in DeRuyter, Madison Co., NY census records which is confirmed by the Carpenter research "Job Webb and his wife Hannah, mother of Alsop Carpenter, were living at De Ruyter near Skaneateles, N.Y., 1814 to 1827.”10. This is then further confirmed by Clayton Webb4 in reference to Job:
"My Father receive a letter from him, probably the last one in the 5th month of 1827 when his home was in Dernyter, New York. He was engaged in the carriage business. He had one son, Richard Webb, living in Salina. Another son living in Dernyter who owned a woolen factory, and another son, John Webb, he speaks of as doing weaving but he does not give his address. Thomas and Isaac were then living near Lake Ontario, 25 miles east of Rochester."
In the DeRuyter Monthly Meeting11 records we find Job, Hannah and their children numerous times in records at various marriages. At the 1820 marriage in DeRuyter of Isaac Webb the witnesses included Job and Hannah as well as brothers Thomas, John, and Richard. By 1825 Isaac and Richard are in Wayne Co., NY where Isaac's wife Mary died in 1825. Richard Webb received a transfer to Bridgewater MM in Oneida Co., NY in 1826 and the last record we find of Job Webb is an Oct 28, 1829 letter of transfer from the DeRuyter Monthly Meeting to the Bridgewater Monthly Meeting where his son Richard was living at the time. Richard apparently lived for some time in the southeastern Oneida County area as he later married there. Perhaps a more extensive search of area cemetery and court records might yeild more information on where Job and Hannah are buried.
Notes for HANNAH ALSOP:
In the Westbury, New York Monthly Meeting records we find the parents of Hannah and her siblings as well as the record of her first and second marriages Hinshaw, p. 3947):

John and Hannah appear in DeRuyter on the 1820 Madison Co., NY census and also the same year as witnesses at the marriage of his brother Issac. It is probably John, Hannah, and a daughter Lydia who are mentioned in his sister-in-law Hannah Pierce's Journel13 in 1842 and 1845 as living in Ohio. This seems likely since Hannah's mother is also named Lydia. In an 1856 entry Hannah Pierce records “Hannah Webb and Lydia Smith and John Smith and wife staid here last night” which indicate Lydia Webb married a Smith. |

ISAAC4 WEBB (JOB3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born abt 1791 Scorpio, North Hempstead, Queens, Long Island and died 07 Sep 187118,19 in Adrian, Lenawee Co., Michigan. He married (1) MARY PIERCE20 2 Feb 182021,22,23 in De Ruyter, Madison Co., NY daughter of JOHN PIERCE and DEBORAH FIELD. She was born 28 Sep 179823 and died Oct 21, 182523,24 at age 28 years in Williamson Twp, Wayne Co., NY where she is buried in the Quaker or VanHolde Cemetery, in Williamson. Isacc married (2) PAULINA CARTER Bef. 1850 daughter of ONEY and LOVINA CARTER. She was born Abt. 1796 New York.
A letter of transfer from the DeRuyter MM22 dated 24th day 9th mo 1823 to the Farmington MM in Ontario Co., New York certified Isaac Webb and his wife Mary and three minor children Sarah, James, and Jane. And on Mar 30th, 1825 Mary's father John Pierce received a letter of transfer for himself, his wife Deborah and two minor children Hannah and Edward, from DeRuyter Monthy Meeting to Farmington Monthly Meeting.
From the research of Kathrine Payne18 we know that the Isaac Webb in the following census record is the son of Job:
1850 US Census, Palmyra, Lenawee, MI, p. 194: Isaac Webb, 56 NY, carpenter; Paulina, 54 NY; James, 33 NY, farmer; Lucy, 15 NY; Edward, 12 NY; Lavina?, f, 9 NY
The parents and maiden name of Isaac's second wife are known from a combination of sources. From The Comercial Press, December 186225: “Mrs. Isaac Webb (formerly of this village) is down from Michigan on a visit, and will return next spring. She is stopping with her sister, Mrs. Derastus Seely.” June 1865: “-Derastus Seely of this town lost his wife after a short illness of Malignant Erysipelas April 28th, and was burried the 29th.”
In the 1860 Williamson Twp, Wayne County census Dorastus Seely and wife Clarra [Carter] are enumertated living with Lavina Carter age 77 the mother of Paulina and Salina/Clarra. Living next door are Joseph Seely and his wife Olive who are the parents of Derastus Seely. Derastus Seely and Selena Carter, both of Williamson, were married Mar 23, 184726. Oney & Lovina Carter are enumerated in the 1830-50 Williamson census and are buried alongside Celana Seely in the Pleasant View27 Cemetery in Williamson: Oney Carter 27 May 1779-02 Aug 1853; Lovina Carter 10 Jan 1783-29 Jul 1864; Webb, Celana wife of Derostus Apr. 28, 1865, 43y 9m 7d.
What remain unclear is whose child is James Webb enumerated with Isaac in 1850. Unless the age is incorrectly listed, he is probably not the son of Isaac unless Isaac was married before his marriage to Mary Pierce. In the 1840 Williamson census Isaac is enumerated with 1 son under 10 who is probably James. However, the possiblity exist that if the Hannah Webb in Ontario Township is Isaac's sister-law James could be the child of John and Hannah.

RICHARD4 A. WEBB (JOB3, JOHN2, JOHN1) b. Bet. 1791-1796 Long Island, New York and died 1871 probably in Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania. He married EMELINE C. BUTLER daughter of AUGUSTUS BUTLER and SUSAN KINNEY of Oneida Co., New York and who are found living beside or with Richard in 1850-1870. Emeline was born Jun 1823
Richard received a letter of removal from the DeRuyter Monthly Meeting of Friends in Madison Co., New York to the Farmington Monthly Meeting in Ontario Co., NY on June 29, 182512 and is unmarried at the time. The Farmington MM encompassed Williamson, Wayne Co., New York where Richard's brother Isaac had settled as well as a number of other families who migrated from DeRuyter to Williamson and vacinity. On Nov 23, 182629 Richard, still unmarried, received a letter of removal from Farmington to the Bridgewater Monthly Meeting in Oneida Co., New York where he was joined by his father in 1829. Richard A. Webb appears numerous times in the in Bridgewater30 Monthly Meeting records from Oct 1828 until April 1830 and then no longer appears. He probably married Emeline prior to or about 1840 as they appear to be enumerated in 1840 living wih Augustus Butler in Oneida County. About 1844, now married, Richard moved to Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, along with his wife's parents, and purchased 240 acres there in 1844 and is enumerated on the 1850-70 Susquehanna County census.

ISAAC P.5 WEBB, (ISAIAH4, GEORGE3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Oct 03, 1830 in Canada. He married (1) CATHERINE BROWN Oct 25, 1857 in Marshall Co., IN, daughter of WILLIAM BROWN and JANE. She was born Abt. 1837 in Indiana, and died Aug 25, 1862 in Marshall Co., Indiana. He married (2) MARTHA PLAKE Oct 06, 1864 in Marshall Co., IN, daughter of JOHN PLAKE and ROSANNA. She was born Oct 1847 in Indiana.
History of Marshall County, Indiana 1836 to 188011:
“His son, Isaac P., was born in Canada October 3, 1830, and at the time of his removal to Indiana, was old enough to appreciate and take part in the scenes of pioneer life. He rendered his father valuable aid in clearing and improving the home farm. On the 25th of October, 1857, he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine BROWN, daughter of William and Jane BROWN, residents of Polk Township. Less than five years elapsed ere the happiness of this union was sundered by a hand which no power on earth could stay, and his wife bade adieu to earth and her loved ones here on the 25th of August, 1862, passing beyond their embraces to the shores of eternity, and leaving one daughter, Elnora, who still survives.
On the 15th of October, 1864, Mr. WEBB was a second time married, choosing for his companion Miss Martha BLAKE, daughter of John BLAKE, also a citizen of Polk Township. Five children were the fruits of this second union, viz., Orville, Elmer, Maggie, Eve and Florence.
Mr. WEBB has always been an industrious, hard-working man, and by honest toil has earned the fortune he enjoys. He is a successful and thrifty farmer, and now owns 360 acres of fine land. He feels a commendable pride in his farm, and his substantial fences, clean fields and fine stock all proclaim his a systematic and through farmer. In all his dealings with the world, he is honorable and upright, and is in every sense a good citizen.”
