James Webb b. 1737 Timeline

Robert Matthews & Mary Coles Outline

Current Project

An on-going effort to identify and document the Descendants of Robert Matthews and Mary Coles his wife of Oyster Bay, New York and later of Exeter, Berks County, Pennsylvania. After the death of Robert, Mary married Clement Cherrington also of Exeter. Three children of John Webb and Mary Boone of Exeter are believed to have married into the Matthews family. The James Webb b. 1737 Timeline is actually a time line of both the Webb and Matthews families that helps to better see and understand the events, documents, and places that link these two familes. I have made little effort to completely document the children of Mary Coles Matthews and Clement Cherrington as this has and is being done by Dean Cherrington.

Credits and Acknowledgments

The following is a combination of the efforts and contributions of: Kate B. Cook, my co-researcher and also a descendant of Robert Matthews through daughter Mary. Diana Lehman and Darrell Miller, both notable Miller family researchers. Diana Lehman through her research on Hannah Matthews, daughter of Robert's son John, and Moses Webb provided a wealth of data which was extremely helpful in putting together the Matthews family and opening doors to related Webb and Matthews research. It was Diana who provided me a copy of the Matthews v. Warren Case files. She too was has unlocked doors with transcriptions of the Draper Manuscripts which has provided data on Moses Webb and son Jeremiah Webb. Dean Cherrington, co-author of THE CHERRINGTON FAMILY HISTORY & GENEALOGY, who provided me a copies of Robert Matthews will and the deed from Clement Cherrington to Thomas Kirby. Dean has been a great help and without whose assistance it surely would have taken much longer to unlock the Mathews and Webb secrets. Shirley Powers Webb, owner of the Amasa Webb Bible and who opened the door to identifying the parents of Mary Matthews; and too many more to name individually. I certainly have been assisted by many very good researchers and I hope I have given credit where it is due. If you find that I have not please advise me so I can correct the oversight.
