Mary T's Attic A Place for Quality Cherished Teddies Trivia: Ornament History

Most of the ornaments, musicals, and waterballs in the first years were not released to Europe or Australia, probably since they had limited production before Hamilton Gifts (later Enesco) knew whether Cherished Teddies would be successful or not. Here are the ornaments released that first year in 1992:

		Angel Bear Ornament (1992-1993)-- Also called Angie Ornament, this ornament is identical to the Angie nativity figurine. The original 1992 production consisted of a metal halo that was replaced with a resin halo in 1993 and then suspended that same year. In 2003 Enesco released a Carlton Cards Exclusive mini ornament that is similar to this ornament.
		Bear In Stocking (Dated 1992) -- This ornament is the very firsted dated Cherished Teddies ornament and was not available in Europe or Australia.
		Bear On Rocking Reindeer (1992-1994) -- This ornament is a miniature of the Beth figurine and is also found on the Bear on Rocking Reindeer Musical and Waterball. Since the bear is also called Beth, this ornament is sometimes also referred to as Beth On Rocking Reindeer Ornament.
		Sister With Green Stocking Hat (1992-1995) -- One of three ornaments that the Enesco catalogs refer to as Sisters Mini ornaments (even thought they are not miniature in size). The box refers to this ornament as Bear With Green Stocking Hat, even though the figurine has a blue hat with one green and one yellow tassle. This ornament was suspended in 1995.
		Sister With Red Stocking Hat (1992-1995) -- One of three ornaments that the Enesco catalogs refer to as Sisters Mini ornaments (even thought they are not miniature in size). This ornament was suspended in 1995.
		Sister With Holly On Hat (1992-1995) -- One of three ornaments that the Enesco catalogs refer to as Sisters Mini ornaments (even thought they are not miniature in size). This ornament was suspended in 1995.

The first of the Baby's First Christmas Ornaments was released in 1993, along with the first "jointed" bear. The 1993 ornaments are listed below.

		Angel With Bells (1993-1996) -- One of three angel ornaments released and specified in the Enesco catalog with the Nativity set. Production was suspended in 1996.
		Angel With Harp (1993-1996) -- One of three angel ornaments released and specified in the Enesco catalog with the Nativity set. Production was suspended in 1996.
		Angel With Trumpet (1993-1996) -- One of three angel ornaments released and specified in the Enesco catalog with the Nativity set. Production was suspended in 1996.
		Baby Boy's First Christmas (Dated 1993) -- First of the "first christmas" ornaments along with Baby Girl's First Christmas, this ornament was only available in the U.S.
		Baby Girl's First Christmas (Dated 1993) -- First of the "first christmas" ornaments along with Baby Boy's First Christmas, this ornament was only available in the U.S.
		Girl With Muff (Dated 1993) -- Also called Alice Ornament since it was released the same year as the matching Alice figurine, 9" vinyl figurine, musical, and waterball. Alice was named after Priscilla Hillman's mother. While this ornament was not available outside the U.S., other Alice ornaments made of paper, wood, and decoupage were released in later years.
		Jointed Bear (1993-1995) -- The first Cherished Teddies ornament with joints to allow the arms and legs to move. The Enesco catalogs refer to this ornament as Bear In Santa Cap. A jointed bear musical with fancier hat and scarf was released the same year.

New ornaments for 1994 include wooden ornaments and Valentine ornaments.

		Bear In Basket (Dated 1994) -- This ornament is also called Baby In Basket.
		Drummer Boy (Dated 1994) -- This ornament matches the Ronnie figurine, which is part of the Nativity set. This ornament was unavailable in Europe or Australia.
		Our 1st Christmas (Dated 1994) -- First of the Our First Christmas ornaments, this ornament is similar to the 8 inch high Couple in Sleigh Musical.
		Sending You My Heart Boy (1994) -- Valentine ornament that was suspended after only one year of production.
		Sending You My Heart Girl (1994) -- Valentine ornament that was suspended after only one year of production.

The 1994 Wooden Ornaments came as a set of six with room on most of the ornaments to personalize them. All the ornaments look like figurines, some of which were not released until years later. The figurines are Alice, Bear in Santa Cap (Jointed Bear Ornament), Darren, Evan, Margy, and Steven.
