Track and Stock
At present SBSL has 5200 feet of bi-directional 7 ½ inch gage track, 39 turnouts, two trestles (one 50 feet long, one 41 feet long) a bridge, a 13 ½ foot hydraulic lift and 6 steaming bays, each 20 feet long. Main line radius is 55 feet minimum. 95% of the track is at a ½ to 2% grade.

Alluminum "EASY TRACK" developed by George Pruitt has been used (see above).
During construction, rail gap is controlled as shown in table 1.

Table 2 shows track spacing and clearance

Ties are 2" X 4" X 14" Douglas Fir on edge. All ties are from salvaged wood and are at least 50 years old. Ties are assembled with 4" center to center spacing. Ties are dipped in Henry Company 107 Asphalt Emulsion as a preservative. Ties are groved for "EASY TRACK" as shown in table 3. Decomposed granite is used as ballast.

Turnout dimensions are shown in table 4. Most mainline turnouts have remote pheumatic operators. Yard turnouts are mechanically operated.

SBSL Rolling Stock
SBSL has one gasoline powered SW 7 switcher locomotive, three gondolas, eight passenger riding cars, two Buckhead riding cars (on loan from the SMOG Belt RR), two flat cars, one flat car with two U.S. Navy ship guns sitting on the car platform waiting to be taken to the shipyard for reassembly on the ship. Also in the machine shop, are two 1875 Moguls in the final stages of machining and assembly. Someday the coal fired moguls will be high balling on SBSL's main line.
