Letters to the Editor Director's Corner by Donna Randolph
The response to my letter to the editor in March has been astounding.
For those of you who didn’t see it, I had responded to a letter
where the writer stated that abortion must be legal for victims of rape.
Having seen and read what happens to the woman who chooses
abortion in a rape case, I still don’t believe that an abortion would
solve anything. Many
opinions both agreeing and disagreeing with my view were published.
At last count there have been a total of twenty-two letters
written on the abortion issue. One
local business denied their annual donation to the center stating that
since we are only pro-life (as understood by reading my letter to the
editor), and since part of my rationale is based on my own religious
beliefs, and none of my statements indicated an objective or open
approach to the issue of unwanted pregnancy, they would no longer be
able to support our center. First
of all (see Mission Statement), our mission statement clearly states
that we seek to model Jesus Christ in word and deed.
This is not my mission statement; it is the Pregnancy Care
Center’s. Secondly, we
deal very openly with any unwanted pregnancy.
Our goal is to educate about all the choices, to love both the
woman and her unborn baby, and in so doing we will hope that she will
choose the best option. The
day after this denial, a check came in the mail from another local
business for five times the amount ($1,000 to be exact).
A week or so later I’m shopping in Stater Bros. when a woman
passes by my shopping cart, then turns and asks me if I’m

ABSTINENCE VOLUNTEER
While recently away on a trip and sharing what our Pregnancy Care
Center is about, I was asked if we are doing anything to stop the gals
from getting pregnant in the first place.
Our center is full of resources for our youth on this subject.
We even had a teacher ask us to come to his classroom to present a
day on abstinence training. This
is one of those areas where the center could use some more hands.
If you feel led in this area, please contact us.

NEWSLETTER
VOLUNTEER
We are in need of someone to put together the newsletter on a
quarterly basis. We supply the articles and pictures. You can work at home
and email the finished product in to the Pregnancy Care Center. This
format is already set up, or if you are comfortable with something else,
you can change it to suit your expertise. We do the printing, folding,
stuffing of envelopes and taking it to the post office. You are strictly
just responsible for the design of the newsletter. (It’s a lot like
putting together a jigsaw puzzle.)
If you would like to volunteer or have other questions about any of
these positions, please call Donna at 384-2273, at the Pregnancy Care
Center. The answering machine is always on and Donna checks messages
frequently.

The board is a governing body only, that meets 6 times a year and
works an average of 1-2 hrs. a month on PCC business. Your minimal
investment will reap maximum rewards as we save lives together.

Kudos
...
A very heartfelt thank you to
the Knights of Columbus for allowing us to have our Mother’s Day
fundraiser in their Hall and to Jim & Yolanda Hayes for cooking our
meal. They worked tirelessly all afternoon and into the evening. The food
was absolutely delicious!
We also thank Dr. Bobby Miller for attending the dinner and
speaking to us about his beliefs on giving every baby a chance at life and
we were able to convey to him, how much we appreciate that he has taken on
the role as our Medical Director for the Center. And thanks to Mrs.
Theresa Wheeler and Mrs. Katie Nazeck for their talk on how they present
the issues of abortion to teens.
We had Immanuel Baptist teenagers who helped set up for the dinner,
and Saint Ann teenagers who served the meal and cleaned up. Your
participation is proving that even young people care about the unborn, and
we thank you for volunteering. We also thank Saint Ann Church for the use of their printing and folding machines to help in the production of this newsletter.

Baby
Bottles The baby bottles that have been handed out are slowly and surely coming back full of change and adding to our special savings account. We are so grateful to those of you who have taken up our baby bottle fundraiser. If you bring in a bottle full of spare change, we promise to replace it with another empty bottle. The baby bottles are available for all churches and individuals who would like to participate. Just give us a call with a count of how many baby bottles you would like and we’ll deliver. The PCC phone number is 384-2273. |
