A Mother & Daughter Visit the Center

A mother called us in November saying that her daughter really needed to talk to someone.  Her daughter had been and taken a couple of the home pregnancy tests; one of them was positive, the other negative.  I told her that we’d be happy to talk to her daughter.

The next week the mom and her 14 year old daughter came to pay us a visit.  The client is a student at one of our local high schools.  First we tested her and it came back negative.  The mother had also expressed a desire that we talk to her daughter about abstinence.  As I spoke with her, I tried to     impress on her how at risk she is for any of the numerous sexually  transmitted diseases (STD’s).     Because of her very young age, she is even at a greater risk of long term damage.  A female’s organs are mostly inside of her.  If she contracts a STD she won’t be able to visually see it like her male partner could.  Does she want to have children later?  Her behavior right now could greatly influence whether or not she would be able to     conceive later on.

Her data sheet showed that she had a Christian background.  Her mom was saying that she really needed to begin using effective birth control.  Many of the available forms of contraception might prevent her from getting pregnant but they might also cause her to abort without her ever even knowing it as well as tampering with her hormones.  She would still be exposed to STD’s.

It is a God given natural desire for young girls to want to become mothers.  Somehow our youth believe the lie that they don’t need to be married in order to achieve the former stated goal.  They haven’t been taught the importance of two-parent families or the value of choosing a father for their baby who is willing to make a lifelong commitment to the mother of his child.

We’re still looking for an abstinence chairperson.  Our youth are not hearing much of the truth out there in the real world.  If you’re interested in being a voice, please call us.

A Time To Share Christ’s Love

Christmas is a time when we are reminded of the love that God has shown us by sending his son into the world as a little baby.    Jesus’ mother, Mary, knew the shame many of the young women who come through the doors of the Pregnancy Care Center know.  She became pregnant out of wedlock just like many of the young women who walk through the Center’s door.  Even though her pregnancy was a miracle of God, I doubt that many of the people that knew Mary and knew of the situation believed her story.   Even her husband-to-be, Joseph found it hard to believe until the angel came and told him that what Mary had been telling him was true.

What better time then now to get involved with the PCC and to make a difference in the lives of one of theses young women who need to experience the love of Jesus in her life.  Make your New Year’s resolution  to get involved with the Pregnancy Care Center.
