Pink Halite Specimens
 Pink Halite Field Trip


Here is a cluster of hopper crystals. Note the color grades from white at the base (deepest below the brine surface) to a deep crimson where the best crystals appear. The crystals were found beneath the brine surface on the bottom side of a ledge. Specimen is approximately 18 inches across.

Another fine example of a large plate, showing a gradation from light to dark pink  This plate again about 18 inches long, but other can be up to three feet long.
Yes. Some pieces get very large.  This one weighed several hundred pounds.
