What's New for 2010 Show

1.   After talking with many people during the Pink Halite Field Trip, we will
again allow standard size vehicles to park along the roads during this
field trip. But because these roads are VERY narrow, OVERSIZE
     VEHICLES
WILL BE PROHIBITED FROM PARKING ADJACENT
     TO THE COLLECTING
AREA. Oversize vehicles will only be allowed to
park in the parking lot on the north side of the collecting area.
Furthermore, oversize vehicles may only drive down these roads to
pickup collectors, tools and specimens after 12:45 p.m., after many of the
collectors have left and congestion has been reduced.

2.  Parking During Pink Halite Field Trip  -  By allowing parking on the side of
roads in the pink halite area, we will be increasing congestion on these roads.
Therefore, we require the following from people parking on these roads
     a.     YOU MUST NOT BLOCK THESE ROADS. You must park as far to
the right hand side of the road as possible.
     b.     ONE WAY ROADS. Roads will be one way only (they will be posted)
     c.     The intersection where the two field trip lines of cars join WILL BE
CONGESTED. BE CAREFUL. WE DON'T WANT ACCIDENTS.

3.   Field Trip Parking at Show Building.  We had the largest field trips ever in 2009
with over 500 cars on the blowhole field trip. While we have no problem accomodating
this number of cars in the collecting areas (the Company provides very large lots on the
salt flats for parking), we do have a problem with the small lots at the show building.
To provide more parking at the
show building in 2010, we will expand both the
reoriented south lot (Lot B) and the
north lot (Lot A). This will increse the size
of the lots by about 75 cars. The parking layout can be found at the
General Information -Lake Field Trips Page.

4.   Port-a-potties at show building.  In 2009 it was clear (from an after-show inspection) that
4 port-a-potties, an handicap port-a-potty and 3 additional women's fluch toilets at the show
building was still not enough. For 2010 we will add two more pot-a-potties.

.   Field trip supplies in General Store.  In 2009 our General Store again ran out of nearly
everything, despite increasing inventories by up to 50%. We are sorry that we let some of you
down again. Our goal is to not run out of any field trip supplies, especially bottles of brine.
For 2009 we filled over 1,200 bottles with brine yet all were gone in little more than 6 hours.

6.   In 2010 we will offer brine bottle filling during the Mud Field Trip in
      addition
to selling bottles of brine at the General Store. The price for brine in the General
      Store will be
$2.00 for 1 gallon and 4 liter bottles, $1.00 for 2 liter and 2 quart bottles.
During the Mud Field Trip, we will have 1 gallon bottles (with labels) for $1.50 - you fill.
During the Mud Field Trip, you can fill your own 1 gallon bottle for $1.00, but your
bottles must have no labels, you will have to put on one of our brine labels and again,
you fill. Large containers can also be filled at the price of $1.00 per gallon of container.
Our current plan to to have 10 fill spigots so there should be little waiting.

7.   Cell Phone Service.   As some of you learned this year, Trona now has cell phone service.
However, it is limited to Verizon and Sprint phones only. I know for certain that an ATT
cell phone does not work with the Trona cell phone tower, even the roaming mode doesn't work.
