What's New for 2008 Show
1. Field Trip Ticket Price Will Be Higher. I
estimated the cost for SVM to prepare for the
field trips and it is clear that the
prices we have been charging for these field trips is much
less than their true cost. SVM would be
money ahead if they just gave use money equal to
the income we make on the field trips
and save their costs in preparing for the field trips.
While this would save them money and be
much less work for us, money isn't everything.
We know that many of you rely on our
field trips for significant parts of your programs.
To achieve an income more in line with
actual costs, we have decided to increase field trip
prices for next year. The new prices
will be Mud: $10 per car, Blow Holes:
$10 per car,
and
Pink Halite: $15 per car. Other prices (campng,
brine bottles, etc.) will remain
about the same.
2. Port-a-potties on field trips. This
year
we again had 2 port-a-potties at the field trip sites
and
this seemed to adequately meet the needs
of field trip participants. We will do the same
next year.
3. Field trip supplies in General Store.
Because we expect the "Dirty Jobs" segment to
increase attendance next year, we will
increae the amount of field trip supplies and pink halite
in our General Store.

needs.
4. The Gem-O-Rama video may, or may not be revised for the
2008 show. I have quite a
bit of new media to use, but also have other
projects to do as well. So maybe or mabe not.
