Canadian Kennel Club Ch. Pearson's Sand and Sable. "Sandy" is a sable
dog. Sired by Ch. Pearson's Cadillac Jack. The sable color is now disqualified
under the current AKC Standard. It may not show in the conformation ring in the USA.
However, it may compete in the obedience rings and in Junior showmanship.
A True story: Years ago, I openly supported the sable color, and I campaigned
"Sandy" above. I was judging at a Cocker Spaniel Specialty, and an
exhibitor followed me into the ladies restroom; she wanted to show me photographs of her
sable cocker in total privacy......she was afraid someone might hear us
discussing the sable color. I no longer breed this beautiful controversial color,
although many other people do.
The sable color is being shown in Europe and Canada as well as other countries without
the intense persecution. As of this date, the Sable color is
disqualified in the USA under the current American Kennel Club breed standard.
